Iowa City Commercial Real EstateThe Terry Trueblood Recreation Area was officially dedicated this morning with music provided by the Preucil School of Music string quartet including Hannah Altmaier, Fiona Edberg, Alex Choi and Alyssa Adamac.  The Terry Trueblood Recreation area was the dream of Terry Trueblood, the former director of the Iowa City Parks and Recreation department,  and many other dedicated Parks and Recreation commissioners, City Managers and City Counselors, donors and City, County and State officials.  Many were present for the dedication and Matt Hayek, the Mayor of Iowa City, gave a touching and informative speech for the dedication telling the audience what a labor the development and funding for this park has been and how lucky we are to have it.

The park is sited on an old sand quarry that filled with water forming a 95 acre lake on a 200 acre site.  There is a 2 mile walking trail around the park and several parking areas allowing multiple points of access to enjoy the facility. The reception and ribbon cutting was held in the new welcome center with a promenade overlooking the lake and its walking trails.  There is also a boat rental facility to rent kayaks, paddle boats and canoes.
