Coralville Commercial Real EstateKelly Hayworth, the Coralville City Manager addressed the Iowa City Area Association of Realtors Commercial Round Table on Tuesday, the October 8th, with a presentation highlighting new and exciting development occurring in Coralville.  In 2008 there was an epic flood which was the catalyst for much of the development now underway in the inner city of Coralville.  The flood also generated a $60,000,000 flood mitigation project which will be completed mid 2014.  The flood mitigation brings the flood protection to a minimum of 1 foot over the 500 year FEMA flood zone protecting those areas that were effected before.  There are welcome additions to the Iowa River landing project including Von Maur, 30 Hop, the completion of the University Hospitals and Clinics building, the completion of Homewood Suites and a new commercial, retail and residential building. New and exciting office users for the University Research Park in north Coralville are moving in including Medirev, a new 200,000 foot back office University support building and a new STEM school along Oakdale Blvd. The flood buyout of existing properties made way for a new, revitalized area between 2nd Street and 5th Streets called Old Town Coralville which will have office, retail and residential uses.  WestBank is also locating to the corner of 2nd Street and 10th Avenue with a landmark 3-story building.  In addition to other development projects, the City has sponsored an innovative art sculpture project along the Iowa River.  The presentation is attached with this link: Coralville Development Presentation .
